Understanding LEED Certification
Created by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED Certification is an internationally recognized green building certification system which provides third party framework and verification for both identifying and implementing practical measures in green building including design, construction, building operation and maintenance. This framework defines both the end product, as well as the construction process itself. Certification is achieved through a point system, with points awarded in each of the following areas:
Sustainable Sites
Water Efficiency
Energy & Atmosphere
Materials & Resources
Indoor Environmental Quality
Locations & Linkages
Awareness & Education
Innovation in Design
LEED Certification is a complicated process, and requires a builder that understands it thoroughly. As the builder and owner of her own LEED Certified home, Maggie White is uniquely qualified to lead the way. Whether it is a complete green new construction, or energy efficient refit, she will navigate the LEED Certification process, while artfully marrying quality Martha's Vineyard architecture and craftsmanship with the newest green systems and building techniques.
